The Purpose of a Music Video

The purpose of a music video is to influence those people who are interested in purchasing the song to buy into the video. Its most important purpose is too sell the song and evoke a reaction so it leaves you remembering the song. secondly, the purpose of the music video is to give the listener a better understanding of the song. A music video is a promotional tool for the artist. Furthermore, it sells the artist as a product and gains more views widening the acknowledgement of the artist in the music industry.

Musicians use music videos because they are a great way to present visual interpretations of the song. It is also one of the best ways in which an artist is able to market their singles that could potentially attract more fans to either listen to other songs on their album or purchase their single. Musicians create songs that often have a deeper meaning this is why it is important that fans can interpret the artists music easily. Making an artists song that has a deeper meaning to themselves translatable can often lead fans into the artists thoughts and feelings which is often why people choose to listen to songs in particular moods. Artists and musicians often present their most vulnerable moments through their music and therefore, it is important that the viewer can follow them on a journey through the song. By having a music video there it makes it easier to do so as imagery speaks for you.

Artists make videos to show their raw talent and in some instances to show they have the finance behind them from their record deal too their audiences through big technicalities within their videos compared to other artists. Finally, the internal reason for an artist to make a music video is to be all round creative and expand their own artistic knowledge and ideas further through sharing their passion with others through the sharing of new mediums and a new message from the artist. This will help when making my own music video because i now know that music videos have either a purpose such as a political issue they are trying to address such as Black Eyed Peas do in Where Is The Love or addressing social issues such as N Dubz Should Have Put Something On to make people think more about having safer sex. Or just because the artist has personal feelings and meaning for their song not made for their fans just for them. I can now in my own music video read the lyrics and decide whether the artist was aiming for a political, social or personal message.
