Plans for Magazine Advert

Image
The colours i choose to go for within the Magazine advert were bright blues, reds, oranges, yellows, pinks and greens. The reason for this is because Charli XCX's target audience is aimed at young teens. I believe the use of these vibrant colours on a poster would best draw their attention. I know from personal experience that magazine ads that stand out the most are acknowledged more than those will bland colouring. Furthermore, the use of tropical colours matches Charli XCX outfit. The red on her heels matches the colour of the 'red balloons' which is a name of one of her songs appearing on her album Sucker. The fonts i chose to use were bold especially the album title Sucker. Making each letter a different colours and each one of them had a set colour of lights. Furthermore, the use of each balloon flying up forwards Charli XCX name with the name of each song shows that they all come from her album. I decided it was important to include a song on the album where she

EXTENSION: magazine advertisement analysis

Image
Within this i have gone into detail on the fonts, imagery colours and the impact this magazine advert has on Rhiannas audience. I have decided that the LOUD really stands out and draws attention to the type of upbeat pop music that will be appearing on this album. Furthermore, the use of the large background of Rhianna shows she is well recognised and therefore, her name doesn't need to be as large. This will help when making my own product because i now know what will get the album really recognised and the colour and choice of imagery are essential in making the magazine advert stand out.

EXTENSION- Initial ideas on your own music video

Image
Our initial idea was too look for an artist with a song that hadn't been released as a single in the pop genre but was instead released within an album. This song was not well established within the charts and recognised as popular. Therefore, whilst looking at lyrics we came across the song and believe this would best fit our idea of a party theme with the genre we had picked. The start of the music video is a girl arriving at a party with her friend and her boyfriend. We then follow her into the party and as she approaches we hear the music getting louder. Once inside she begins dancing with her friend and her boyfriend when his friend comes over and begins dancing with them too. When the party ends they leave together. Within this music video we had an initial idea of using coloured flares and balloons with glitter in so when they are popped the sparkles come out. Which relates to the lyrics within the video of "purple glitter flying through the air oh" this is when

Video Analysis According to Goodwins Theory

Image
Emelie Sande- Heaven Represented- who is represented? How is the artist represented/promoted? Is the fan base represented?  Within this music video it is clear Emelie Sande is not recognised as a celebrity. This is because she wants to be seen as equal to everyone else in the street. This is presented to us through the way in which she is wearing clothes bought from stores such as Topshop, H&M instead of wearing designer outfits and lots of jewellery showing her wealth. I believe this is effective with her music video of Heaven as when you go to heaven wealth and class isn’t relevant.   Within this music video it is evident that poverty is a key factor that is being highlighted within this music video. This is important for her video because she wants to make sure that everyone is included within the video. I believe that this is because Emelie wanted to be shown as an artist that she realises not everyone is as fortunate as her and everyone is still connected through religion

Plans for digipak

Image
You need to consider the layout of the digipak as you want the album title to stand out to potential consumers or people are looking for the product. This is why i decided to make my title nice and bold to catch attention. You also need to consider the way in which the digipak is going to fold as you don't want it to be upside down once completed. The ideas within your digipak needs to be original and draw people into your album. You do this by making sure your digipak has a unique selling point that hasn't be done before. You need to make sure the artists name is on the spine of the pak and that the name of the artist is big and bold for people to see as often people may just purchase an album if they enjoy the artist without knowing all of the songs. Within my own digipak one of the things that worked was the use of the two lollipops in the shape of a cross i did this because you suck lollipops and this links to the album title sucker alongside the idea that sucker is an

Mock Magazine Advert

Image
Within our pairs we had to create a magazine advert for an imagined band. We spent several lessons on this where we were put into pairs with the task of creating our own advert. I was partnered with Ben we had to think about several aspects for instance how we were going to photo shop the image in, what image we were going to use to match the name given to us. Most importantly the image behind the photo presenting the location because we needed the entire genre to all match to make the advert as realistic as possible to the artists we were given. Our genre was a mixed pop band. We decided to use an image of the group in the centre of the screen as then they were dominating the advert. We listed where the songs were going to be available to listen to and download. We also decided to include the title of the album to be called Candyfloss featuring bubblegum. To interlink both the colours and the attire of the band and title we decided on using bright bold fonts for the name of the band

Analysis Of Ancillary Products

Image
Font The font is in bright purple and white, bold and in capital making it stand out on on the dark background giving a space theme to the product. Furthermore, there is huge spaces in between each word drawing more attention to her name and songs. Colour The choice of colours and sparkles give the idea of the stars and galaxies in the background. Charli XCX is seen as an electric artist that really stands out and is powerful through the use of glaring multi-coloured lights flying through the ends of her hair and on the other side of the digipak. Alongside this, she has for filled her electro-pop identity through the use of the bright vibrant colours running through her wild hair. Imagery  The use of imagery of Charli XCX being pictured in the centre of the frame shows she is the most important aspect of her digipak. The only other colours are the glistening silvers spread across the black and purple background with a spacey feel and at the top an array of red, blue and gre

Textual Analysis In Class 2

Image
The music video i am analysing is Chained To The Rhythm by Katy Perry. Although the song appears upbeat under the surface of it all Katy is addressing a world of repetition and ignorance of us all. The song was written to spread her own political views that she has shared more recently through her  increasing dedication to political activism. in more recent months, campaigning for Hillary Clinton and producing a PSA about anti- immigrant policies in American history.  Katy Perry attending Womans March January 21st 2017 in Washington DC.  Narrative The narrative of the piece is that we are live in our own little bubbles in life and we cannot see the world because we are too busy trusting everything that we are shown. Although there is some performance in there it doesn’t show Katy as famous it shows her as a normal person. However unlike everyone else who hasn’t been pricked by reality she can see the world from a different perspective. The main bulk of this piece is narrative

Analysis of a magazine advert

Image
The font type used within this piece was effective it was bold but it stood out. It was kept simplistic just as the artist is always shown however the curls on her actual name look almost like vines being wrapped around each other which fits perfectly with her nature theme. The choice of colours were once again soft upon her own image and the pastel pink flowers around her but harsher blacks in the backgrounds to compliment the white and make her title of her album really stand out. The imagery within this advert made Florence appear although she was from another era. The tudors especially due to the corset and the big puffy sleeves and shoulders. This magazine advert is targeting older teenagers and above. Her hippie look with the flowers and birds makes her cover very original and compliments especially the songs within this album. Most importantly 'The dog days are over' was the biggest hit of this album the black shades could represent a hard point within her career and n

Research into chosen genre

Image
Research into Chosen Genre The genre i will be researching into is pop. Pop music is aimed to satisfy the broadest-possible audience through the use of catchy combinations of rhythms and energy within the music videos in this genre, generally lasting between 2-5 minutes in length.  Most popular genre of music in the UK (in order) ·          Rap. ·          Rock. ·          Pop. ·          K-POP. ·          R&B. ·          Country. ·          Latin. ·          EDM. It is important that artists appeal to their audience for instance they will wear trendy on the market fashion to create a relationship between them and their youthful audience. They keep on top of new trends with their stylists in order for their target market to think ‘I want to be like her, I love her outfit’. Making the artist an actual role model for the child. The most popular method for pop genres is to feature love within the narrative this is because the younger generation are obsessed

Research into chosen artist

Image
Research into chosen artist Charlotte Emma Aitchison, better known by her stage name of Charli XCX.  Was born in Stevenage England August 2 nd 1992. She is a British singer and songwriter and has been writing her ow songs since just 14. Her debut single was released independently and she first started just performing in warehouse raves in London. She is both from an Indian and Scottish descent.  One of her most famous songs released was Boom Clap this electropop featured in The Fault in Our Stars. At the age of 14 Charli XCX was still Charlotte Emma Aitchison growing up in Hertfordshire having to loan from her parents to make an album. 16 years she was putting herself out there with drug users etc. in warehouse parties in east London to make sure she made it.in 2008 the Guardian belittled her and spat her out saying she was nothing more than a computer-pop Kate Nash. She released two albums, one never officially coming. The buzz managed to get her a deal with a subsidiary

Mock Digipak

Image
We had to create a mock digipak for an imagined band. During this we had too consider the type of audience we would be aiming our digipak towards and how to best fit the target audience at hand. We had too spend alot of our time on considering the genre as we didn't want something that wouldn't fit the artists name. The idea of the white and grey was to represent the swans. It also gives an icy kind of feel which was the theme were going for with the name Lakeshore. Hence why we left it simple and put in a lake, we kept our colours basic greys as we believed this would look most effective. For my own digipak in future i would need to make sure the writing stands out more and the spine of the digipak can easily be read.

Analysis of Digipak

Image
Colours Katy Perry is aimed at a female audience you can see this by the soft colours she has used upon her digipak. Such as baby blues, sky blues, soft pink clouds etc. Images The light candyfloss clouds are covering only her private parts also giving Katy Perry a fierce look from a side on view. She looks confident and bold along side the title of her album Teenage Dream. The use of the Diablo strawberry and cream sweets gives a sense of a sweet and innocent feel to her choice of digipak. Fonts used The name of the artist looks like it has been made by red strawberry laces which gives the symbols of lovey dovey colours. The use of bold font on the titles of songs is effective as it draws the audience too them. The use of strawberry laces to create the title also add the effect of sweetness within Katy Perrys Teenage Dream album.  Impact on the audience This will help when making my own digipak because i now know that is important to add symbols within my work in order t

Textual Analysis in Class

Plan B- Writings On The Wall Narrative Plan B's song Writing's On The Wall is followed on by the song She Said where Strickland Banks the famous artist Plan B is accused of rape of the lady he had left with in the bar and rejected when he realised that he didn't want to have sex with her. He had been performing a sold out gig where after he was meant to return home to a cooked meal by has partner but instead proceeded to go for drinks with his 'guys'  and ended up returning home elsewhere with this other mistress, who later he refused to sleep with. The piece has both aspects of narrative and performance. The music video is most narrative however, performance is shown within aspects of the video. As Plan B is performing but as the artist Strickland Banks. He is performing to a large crowd but via another name so that the song isn't personal to him as an artist and isn't performed directly under his own name. The main chunk of the video is however, na

Initial Ideas

Image
The initial idea we had for our music video was always pop genre but it was however, with a Zara Larson song. We decided to change this because the song we are now doing had better lyrics that we had brainstormed more interesting ideas for. The artist we have decided to go with Charli XCX has fun style we wanted to go with from her song she released on her album but not as a single. Which means that we have been able to create the exciting vibe of colour flares, balloons with coloured glitter inside, white screen with a projection of flashy lights and multi-colours because she is a fun artist matching her song. We need to consider how we are going to lay out the music video because the flares are quite expensive and we cannot redo the scene so we need to make sure everyone knows what they are doing through the use of good organisation skills. We also really need to consider the type of person we want to be our artist as i believe this can really make a music video if people hav
